Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb beef brisket flat (1.4 to 1.8 kg)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large onions sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth (240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (120 ml), plus more for serving
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Mix the brown sugar and spices and rub all over the brisket.
  2. Spread the onions in a 6-quart slow cooker and lay the brisket on top, fat side up.
  3. Whisk the broth, BBQ sauce and Worcestershire and pour around the brisket.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours, until very tender.
  5. Rest 15 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain. Spoon the juices and onions over the top.

Notes

Cook on LOW for the most tender brisket. Slice against the grain.
